Primary Care Overflow Services

We offer a variety of services designed to support both pet owners and their primary veterinarians in the treatment of their pets. These are services your vet may not have access to or may not be able to offer in a timely manner.

Please note we are not a primary care facility and do NOT offer general care services such as vaccines, dentals, routine labwork, or other preventative services.

Ultrasound | Echocardiography | Endoscopic Retrieval | Surgery | Special Procedures | Post-Op Monitoring

Ultrasound

We offer diagnostic ultrasounds, including abdominal, thoracic, cervical (neck), pregnancy or masses/lumps. If you or your primary vet believes an ultrasound is the next step for your pet, give us a call and we can get it scheduled within a few days typically. If your pet has a more urgent condition, we can often even accommodate a same day scan! Our sonographer expertly scans your pet, often with the aid of a little sedation, and then sends the images to a specialist for final review. Our ability to perform fine needle aspiration (FNA) and true cut biopsies during these procedures further enhances our diagnostic capabilities.

Echocardiography

An echo is a specialized ultrasound of the heart. If your pet has a heart murmur, an arrhythmia or any other potential signs of heart disease – enlarged heart on x-rays, collapse, seizure-like episodes, exercise intolerance, limb edema/swelling or a cough – an echo may be warranted. While Dr. Lisa is not a cardiologist, she does have specialized training to scan the heart and then works with a tele-cardiologist to diagnose and treat your pet.

Endoscopy/Rhinoscopy

Concerned about a foreign object ingestion in your pet? Our clinic offers endoscopic (non-surgical) retrieval of certain foreign objects. Endoscopy provides a less invasive alternative to traditional surgery, leading to reduced recovery times and improved patient comfort.

Endoscopic retrieval is not appropriate for all cases. To ensure the best course of treatment for your pet, referring veterinarians are requested to contact us directly for a thorough case evaluation and discussion prior to referral. This collaborative approach allows us to determine if endoscopy is the most suitable and effective intervention.

We also offer rhinoscopy for retrieval of nasal foreign bodies!

We currently do not perform endoscopic biopsies, though we hope to offer this starting in Summer 2026!

Surgery

Our team is equipped to perform a variety of non-emergent surgeries that are crucial for your pet’s health and well-being. These procedures include cystotomy, limb and tail amputation, mass removals, enucleation, splenectomy (for non-bleeding cases), and GI and liver biopsies. We can also perform more urgent surgeries on pets that are stable, such as foreign body removal. We will work with you or your vet to help you understand the surgery and aftercare needed. If your pet requires further hospitalization after surgery with us, we will contact an ER for you to facilitate a smooth transfer of care.

Special procedures

Beyond surgery, we can perform many procedures that your vet may not. This includes removal of fluid from the abdomen, chest or around the heart, unblocking pets that cannot urinate due to a physical obstruction, or facilitating a plasma or blood transfusion, among many others. Please call us if you have a question about a specific procedure your pet may need.

Post-op Monitoring

If your pet had a late procedure with your primary vet and needs a little more time to recover from anesthesia or perhaps they need some extra time on IV fluids, we are here to help. Have your vet reach out to us to facilitate transfer of care and we’ll be here ready to receive your pet with a warm blanket.
